The Milwaukee Brewers have bolstered their pitching staff by acquiring right-handed pitcher Bryse Wilson from the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for cash. This move comes just a week after the Pirates designated Wilson for assignment, clearing the way for him to join the Brewers.
Wilson, 25, had a challenging 2023 season, posting a 3-9 record with a 5.52 ERA in 20 starts out of 25 appearances. He struck out 79 batters while walking 32 in 115⅔ innings pitched.

Despite the struggles, Wilson has shown flashes of potential during his career, which includes a 9-17 record and a 5.54 ERA over 56 games, with 43 starts. In total, he has logged 232⅓ innings, collecting 162 strikeouts and 79 walks.
The Pirates originally acquired Wilson, along with right-hander Ricky DeVito, from the Atlanta Braves in July 2021 in a trade that sent Richard Rodriguez to Atlanta. To make room for Wilson on the 40-man roster, the Brewers designated right-hander Trevor Kelley for assignment.
Kelley, 30, pitched in 18 games last season, finishing with a 6.08 ERA and a 1-0 record, primarily in relief roles. This move reflects the Brewers’ efforts to strengthen their pitching depth for the upcoming season.
