A major revearsal has been the ongoing issues with their offensive line, particularly the absence of Trent Williams, a key player who has battled injuries throughout the season. Ian Rapoport recently reported that the team has placed Williams on injured reserve and has signed Matt Hennessy to a two-year contract.
While Hennessy is expected to fill Williams’ position, it is important to note that few offensive linemen in the league have matched Williams’ performance over the last several seasons. His absence will be felt on the 49ers’ line, but Hennessy will strive to step up in the veteran’s place.
As the offseason approaches, the 49ers will need to evaluate several roster decisions, with the most pressing concern being the future of Purdy. Currently on his rookie deal, Purdy is aiming for a substantial contract extension, but the team’s willingness to meet his demands remains uncertain.
