With just weeks remaining in the regular season, the NFL MVP race has become a topic of intense debate. The competition seems to be narrowing down to Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen, Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, and Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley.
ESPN analyst Ryan Clark recently expressed his opinion that Jackson is the most deserving candidate for the award, which would mark his second consecutive MVP win.
In recent years, the MVP award has predominantly gone to quarterbacks, a trend that continues to dominate discussions. While Barkley’s exceptional season for the Eagles has been historic, it may not be enough to break the quarterback-dominated narrative.
Jackson’s previous success as a two-time MVP winner could work against him, as voters sometimes favor new faces when determining the recipient of the honor.
Allen, who has yet to claim the MVP title, has delivered a performance this season that rivals Jackson’s, showcasing 37 total touchdowns and only six interceptions.
The Bills quarterback is also on pace to surpass 4,000 passing yards for the fifth consecutive season, further solidifying his candidacy. Adding to Allen’s case is Buffalo’s impressive 12-3 record, including a crucial victory over the Kansas City Chiefs earlier in the season.
With the playoffs fast approaching, the outcome of this closely contested race remains uncertain, leaving room for speculation about who will ultimately take home the prestigious award.
