At the 2025 Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, the couple shared their recent experiences, including the last memorable note they received from a director, just ahead of the premiere of their horror film Together.
While recalling his time working on Neighbors, Franco, 39, shares an amusing memory of a particular sex scene. “After the first take, the director pokes his head in and says, ‘More jackrabbit,'” he remembers.
Franco, who was “fully nude” except for a sock to cover himself, laughs about how the feedback made the scene even funnier. Brie, 42, recalls a similar moment when filming Glow.
She mentions that she was also nude in the first scene of the series’ debut episode and received direction that was somewhat comparable. “The note wasn’t exactly ‘jackrabbit,’ but it was ‘faster, comedy se*x,'” Brie explains. She suggests that her initial performance may have been a bit too dramatic for the scene.
The film Together, directed by Michael Shanks, premiered at the festival on January 26. It tells the story of a couple moving to the countryside, which sets off a supernatural event that drastically changes their relationship, their existence, and even their physical forms.
This marks the couple’s first onscreen collaboration since their roles in The Little Hours and The Disaster Artist in 2017. Franco also directed Brie in the 2023 film Somebody I Used to Know.
Their discussions about filming intimate scenes aren’t new, as Franco’s 2023 movie also uses NSFW content. Brie previously shared her thoughts on having her husband direct her during intimate scenes. “By the time we shot The Little Hours, I had already seen him act in multiple make-out or se*x scenes with others, so it kind of just broke the ice,” she said.
