A new contract agreement has been reached between the Minnesota Vikings and safety Theo Jackson, locking him in for two more years. His agency confirmed on Wednesday that the deal is worth $12.615 million.
This move helps strengthen the safety unit, especially at a time when changes are expected in the coming weeks. The deal also puts Jackson in a strong position to compete for a starting spot on defense.

His agents at Equity Sports confirmed that Jackson, who was initially set to become a restricted free agent, now has a contract that keeps him with the team through 2027. His new deal includes full guarantees that extend into the 2026 season.
Opportunity Growing for Jackson in Vikings’ Secondary
Throughout most of the past three seasons, Jackson has played mainly as a backup and contributed heavily on special teams. However, the two safeties who have started during that time, Harrison Smith and Camryn Bynum, now have uncertain futures.
Smith is still deciding whether to retire or return, and Bynum is about to become an unrestricted free agent. At 26 years old, Jackson began his NFL journey as a sixth-round pick by the Tennessee Titans back in 2022. The Vikings later picked him up from the Titans’ practice squad during that same season.
His hard work stood out during both the 2023 and 2024 training camps, which left a good impression on the coaching staff.
But because of the depth at safety with Smith, Bynum, and Josh Metellus, Jackson didn’t see much playing time. Across 43 games in his career, Jackson has recorded two interceptions and logged 222 snaps on defense.
