After another season filled with disappointment, the New York Jets watched their hopes for a successful year crumble in Week 1 when star quarterback Aaron Rodgers suffered an Achilles injury against the Buffalo Bills.
Though there was brief optimism about Rodgers potentially returning early, the Jets couldn’t remain competitive in the playoff race, rendering his early comeback unnecessary until next season.
With several key issues on both offense and defense, the Jets now have the offseason to address these shortcomings, positioning themselves for a stronger 2024 campaign with Rodgers back at the helm.
One area the Jets could focus on is bolstering their wide receiver corps, and former NFL player Tiki Barber has suggested that New York should pursue Minnesota Vikings star receiver Justin Jefferson, as he shared on WFAN Sports Radio.
“The Jets should go get him,” Barber said. “Absolutely, they should go get him because they need talent. They need someone alongside Garrett Wilson, and they have a short window to do it.”
If the Vikings are willing to part with Jefferson and the Jets have the necessary resources, this could be a game-changing acquisition for New York, instantly boosting their passing attack for the upcoming season.
Nonetheless, the Jets’ main priority will likely be improving the offensive line and addressing other areas of both their offense and defense.
