An agreement has been reached for Cam Akers to join the New Orleans Saints, according to what a source in the league told The Athletic.
After taking part in the team’s minicamp this week, Akers appears to have made a strong impression on new head coach Kellen Moore and the other coaching staff members.
During the last season, Akers played for both the Minnesota Vikings and the Houston Texans, gathering a total of 512 scrimmage yards and scoring five touchdowns across the two teams.

The effort he gave while at the Vikings this past season shows how determined he is personally and how much backing he gets from his loved ones.
He first entered the NFL through the Los Angeles Rams, where he ran for a total of 1,443 rushing yards and managed to score 10 touchdowns over most of four seasons with the team.
The Current Running Back Group in New Orleans
He is now part of the Saints’ backfield, which already includes standout player Alvin Kamara and former 2020 first-round pick Clyde Edwards-Helaire.
Beyond those two, there is not much depth when it comes to experienced running backs, as Kendre Miller has frequently battled injuries and Velus Jones Jr. has mostly contributed as a wide receiver and on special teams.
The Saints also added Devin Neal from Kansas in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft to strengthen the group of running backs.
