Despite holding a respectable 9-5 record, the Baltimore Ravens felt they required an additional legitimate passing threat, even following a five-game winning streak. To address this need, the Ravens traded a fifth-round draft pick to the Carolina Panthers in exchange for wide receiver Diontae Johnson.
Unfortunately, Johnson failed to make an impact in Baltimore and was suspended for one game after refusing to participate in their Week 13 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles.

According to ESPN insider Adam Schefter, Johnson has now been waived by the Ravens, prompting fans to mock him on social media during his departure from the team.
Prior to joining the Ravens, Johnson spent five seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers after being selected in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft. He earned a Pro Bowl selection in 2021, finishing that season with 107 receptions, 1,161 receiving yards, and eight touchdowns.
However, Johnson struggled to replicate that level of success in the 2022 and 2023 seasons, leading to his trade from the Steelers to the Panthers this offseason. In that deal, the Panthers received Johnson and a seventh-round pick in exchange for a sixth-round pick and cornerback Donte Jackson.
During his brief time with the Ravens, Johnson recorded just one catch for six yards across four games. In an ironic twist, the Ravens are set to face Johnson’s former team, the Steelers, in Week 16 before traveling to the Houston Texans and hosting the Cleveland Browns in the regular season’s final games.
As of now, the Steelers lead the AFC North with a 10-4 record, putting them one game ahead of the Ravens ahead of their divisional clash.
