The New York Yankees will welcome another accomplished baseball executive to their front office next season. On Tuesday, the Yankees introduced Brian Sabean as an executive adviser to general manager Brian Cashman.

Sabean, 66, brings extensive experience from his 30-year tenure with the San Francisco Giants, where he guided the team to World Series victories in 2010, 2012, and 2014.

Prior to his recent role as executive vice president with the Giants, Sabean began his MLB career with the Yankees in 1985 as a scout and later served as their director of scouting from 1986 to 1990 and as VP of player development and scouting from 1990 to 1992.

Reflecting on his return, Sabean shared his motivation: “My passion for the game remains strong, and I’ve had experience in nearly every aspect of baseball operations. I wanted a role where I could give back, mentor, and support in any capacity.”

Cashman, who once credited Sabean as an “unsung hero” for developing Yankees legends like Derek Jeter and Mariano Rivera, praised his contributions to the Giants, calling him “one of the game’s great evaluators.”

Sabean’s goal is to help Cashman return the Yankees to championship contention. Eager to contribute, Sabean remarked, “I aim to be a versatile asset, providing insights and support wherever needed.”
