Injuries have plagued the Los Angeles Chargers throughout this season, with Joey Bosa being one of the most affected players on their roster. Bosa endured a groin tear during Week 3 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, and after a lengthy recovery, he finally returned to practice last week in preparation for his comeback.
However, just before the Chargers’ Week 17 game against the Los Angeles Rams, food poisoning hit Bosa, potentially sidelining him again. Despite this setback, the four-time Pro Bowler and 2017 Defensive Rookie of the Year showed his toughness by playing half of the defensive snaps. He still managed to record two solo tackles during the Chargers’ 31-10 victory.
As the Chargers prepare for their Week 18 matchup with the Denver Broncos, they have a chance to secure the fifth seed in the AFC. If the Baltimore Ravens lose to the Cincinnati Bengals before the game, the Chargers could clinch that spot automatically.
Even if that happens, head coach Brandon Staley intends to play most, if not all, of his starters. Bosa’s playing time will be crucial, as he needs to regain his rhythm and conditioning after such a long absence. With him back at full strength, the Chargers will have a potent pass-rushing duo with Bosa alongside Pro Bowler Khalil Mack.
