In a lengthy social media message on Christmas Day, Trump directed strong words at the 37 individuals whose death sentences were commuted by President Biden, telling them to “go to hell.”
In a Truth Social post, he referred to these inmates as “the 37 most violent criminals, who killed, raped, and plundered like virtually no one before them, but were just given, incredibly, a pardon by Sleepy Joe Biden.” He concluded with, “I refuse to wish a Merry Christmas to those lucky ‘souls’ but, instead, will say, GO TO HELL!”
On Monday, Biden announced that he had commuted the death sentences of 37 federal inmates, converting their penalties to life imprisonment. Trump has been vocal in his disapproval of this decision.
In his Wednesday post, Trump also turned his attention to foreign relations, mentioning China, Panama, Canada, and Greenland. He accused Chinese soldiers of “illegally” operating the Panama Canal, expressing a desire for it to revert to U.S. control.
Trump stated, “Merry Christmas to all, including to the wonderful soldiers of China, who are lovingly, but illegally, operating the Panama Canal (where we lost 38,000 people in its building 110 years ago), always making certain that the United States puts in Billions of Dollars in ‘repair’ money, but will have absolutely nothing to say about ‘anything.’”
He continued his critique by addressing Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, commenting on high taxes in Canada. Trump suggested that if Canada became the 51st state, its citizens could see their taxes reduced by over 60%, with businesses potentially doubling in size and receiving unparalleled military protection.
Trump then shifted focus to Greenland, highlighting its importance for U.S. national security and its citizens’ desire for American presence, declaring, “Likewise, to the people of Greenland, which is needed by the United States for National Security purposes and, who want the U.S. to be there, and we will!…”
