Following a harsh 44-19 defeat at home to the New Orleans Saints, the Dallas Cowboys are eager to regroup. This week at practice brought some encouraging news as Pro Bowl tight end Jake Ferguson appears to be on track to return.
After suffering a knee injury in Week One against the Cleveland Browns, Ferguson missed the subsequent game against the Saints. According to insider Todd Archer, Ferguson participated fully in practice on Wednesday.
“Jake Ferguson (knee) did everything during the open portion of practice,” Archer shared on social media, providing optimism for the Cowboys’ offense. Ferguson’s impact was evident last season when he made the Pro Bowl in just his second year with the team, finishing with 71 receptions for 761 yards and five touchdowns.
Aside from All-Pro wide receiver CeeDee Lamb and No. 2 wide receiver Brandin Cooks, Ferguson stands out as a primary target for quarterback Dak Prescott and head coach Mike McCarthy.
If Ferguson is able to take the field this week, it would represent a boost to the offense. The Cowboys are preparing to face the unexpectedly winless Baltimore Ravens, making this matchup crucial for both teams.
After last week’s lackluster showing against New Orleans, Dallas needs to rebound strongly. The Ravens, having suffered two narrow losses to the Kansas City Chiefs and the Las Vegas Raiders, know they could just as easily be 2-0.
Falling to 0-3 would be a surprising blow for Baltimore, which adds to their motivation to perform this week. Incorporating Ferguson back into the lineup could greatly enhance the Cowboys’ chances as they look to regain their footing.
