JoJo Siwa has now shared her perspective after her former partner spoke out on social media about how their relationship ended. While speaking on April 28 during her appearance on the British talk program “This Morning,” Siwa gave her reaction to statements made by Australian influencer Kath Ebbs.
Ebbs had released a video two days earlier, claiming they felt “humiliated” when Siwa allegedly ended things with them during the “Celebrity Big Brother” after-party.

“That was never something I planned,” Siwa explained while seated with fellow “Big Brother” cast member Chris Hughes. “I never intended for that moment to happen like that.”
She also explained that she didn’t know Ebbs would be present at the party. Because of their surprise appearance, an unexpected breakup discussion took place. “What I wanted was just a conversation before then, but one thing led to another,” Siwa added.
Friendship With Chris Hughes Sparked Public Questions
The 21-year-old star, who competed on the British version of the reality show where celebrities live together, developed a close connection with “Love Island” star Chris Hughes. Viewers started speculating about the nature of their bond, especially because Siwa was still in a relationship at the time.
In a longer clip from Ebbs’ video, which has since been removed from TikTok, they accused Siwa of “emotional cheating.” They said the things they witnessed during the show, which they believed were just staged drama, turned out to reflect a lot of reality.
Siwa and Ebbs had confirmed their relationship publicly in January. Two months later, Siwa told People magazine she was in a “very mature” and joyful relationship that she considered “beautiful.”
Time on ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ Changed Her View
Siwa said during the interview that being cut off from everyday life inside the “Celebrity Big Brother” house made her look closely at certain areas of her life, especially her romance with Ebbs.
“I was completely alone with my thoughts, without outside voices or people I know around me,” she said. “And while reflecting, I noticed I had accepted some things in my life that I should never have been okay with.”
During the show, viewers watched Siwa and Hughes become closer. In one emotional moment, they hugged tightly during their farewell, with Hughes kissing her on the cheek and Siwa saying she loved him.
Hughes called her “one of my favorite people I’ve ever come across,” and Siwa responded warmly, joking that she never imagined saying such words to a straight man. She also shared that she felt “confused” and “guilty about how happy I’ve felt.”
Ebbs later told their followers that they were in “a complete state of shock” after watching the show. They described what they saw as “very unsettling and very hurtful,” adding that it left them feeling deeply betrayed. They wanted to heal and process their pain, but said the public breakup only added to their embarrassment.
According to Ebbs, Siwa told them she had some mixed emotions and realized during the show that Ebbs was not the person she wished to continue with long-term. Ebbs said the experience left them feeling “so shocked” that it made them feel “less than human.”

Strong Feelings or Just Close Friends?
When co-host Ben Shephard asked if Siwa’s connection with Hughes had anything to do with the breakup, Hughes responded by calling their relationship “a really strong bond between two people.” He explained that their friendship was deeply meaningful, something he described as a “soulmate friendship.”
A Personal Realization About Identity
Earlier, Siwa had mentioned that her time on the show helped her come to a better understanding of her sexual identity. “I used to always say that I’m a lesbian,” she said. “But now, after being here, I’ve come to understand that I’m queer. And I think that’s cool.”
During the final episode of “Celebrity Big Brother,” Hughes defended the closeness he shared with Siwa. As reported by E! News, he stated that their relationship was purely a friendship and that he believed it would grow even stronger.
He also expressed sadness about how some people had made him feel uncomfortable about having such a bond with her.
