Manchester City had to act quickly during the winter transfer period because of issues affecting their defensive lineup. Their efforts have now produced a new signing.
As shared by Fabrizio Romano, the English club has secured approval to bring in Abdulkodir Khusanov, the central defender currently playing for Lens. Talks between both clubs have progressed well, and an agreement has been reached.
Foot Mercato revealed that both parties agreed on a transfer deal worth €50 million. This figure shows how much confidence City has in the player’s potential to contribute immediately.

Khusanov Set to Make Premier League History
The official confirmation of Khusanov’s move to England is expected to be made public in a few days. Once the deal is finalized, he will be recognized as the first footballer from Uzbekistan to play in the English Premier League.
Khusanov’s performances this season have attracted plenty of attention in Ligue 1. The defender has made 16 appearances across all competitions so far and has recorded one assist.
Just yesterday, there were fresh reports that Manchester City also reached a deal to sign Vitor Reis, a central defender currently with Palmeiras.
