She highlighted the importance of providing support without feeling obligated to repair others, especially in personal relationships. Reflecting on her own experiences, Garcia recently ended her marriage to Artem Chigvintsev after his August arrest for domestic violence. She urged listeners to recognize harmful behaviors early and to leave relationships centered on trying to change someone.
“If you’re in a relationship where you’re constantly trying to fix someone, it’s time to walk away,” she explained. “Attempting to fix someone doesn’t lead to love or happiness. Instead, it drains you and brings sadness. I’ve realized this, and my new chapter in 2025 won’t include fixing anyone. I’ll support, help, love, and lead, but fixing is off the table.”
She added, “God will guide them to the right path.” Garcia, a retired WME star, finalized her divorce from the Dancing with the Stars pro last month through private mediation. Both parties agreed to drop their domestic violence restraining orders and focus on co-parenting their 4-year-old son, Matteo, according to a representative’s statement in November.
Chigvintsev had been arrested on Aug. 29 in Napa County for suspected domestic violence, though the District Attorney later declined to file charges. Garcia filed for divorce on Sept. 11, requesting sole legal and physical custody of Matteo, with supervised visitation for Chigvintsev. She also asked the court to terminate spousal support for both parties.
In response, Chigvintsev sought joint custody, requested spousal support, and asked Garcia to cover his legal fees. Although settlement details remain unclear, Garcia’s representative stressed that Matteo remains her top priority. “Nikki’s main focus has always been her son and maintaining privacy throughout this process,” the statement read. “She’s deeply grateful for the support she has received during this challenging time.”
