The Baltimore Ravens have managed to sail through several injuries during the 2023 NFL season, even after losing Mark Andrews to an ankle and fibula injury earlier this year.
As Lamar Jackson’s most trusted receiving option, Andrews was having another stellar season before being sidelined. While head coach John Harbaugh has expressed optimism about Andrews potentially returning in the playoffs, Isaiah Likely has stepped up as the starting tight end in his absence.
Though Likely doesn’t offer the same consistency as Andrews, his speed and burst make him an appealing target for Jackson in the passing game. In Week 17 against the Miami Dolphins, Likely had a slow start, going without a target for much of the first half.
However, he delivered a highlight-worthy moment with an incredible one-handed touchdown catch that energized the Ravens and their fans, as seen on FOX.
Facing a critical 4th-and-7, Jackson eluded pressure and connected with Likely, who secured the ball with one hand and sprinted into the end zone. Later in the game, Likely added another touchdown, proving himself as a reliable option and a valuable contributor to Baltimore’s aerial attack.
With the team firing on all cylinders at this stage of the season, the Ravens appear well-positioned to pursue their Super Bowl aspirations.
