A fresh turn has come into play for San Lorenzo de Almagro as the club’s Ethics and Discipline Tribunal has put forward a formal appeal seeking the removal of Marcelo Moretti from every connection he holds with the club.
This push for his dismissal, permanent disqualification, and full expulsion came after opposition figure Marcelo Culotta filed a complaint based on a video that aired on Canal 9.

The accusations directed at Moretti point to him accepting questionable donations, breaking the rules laid out in the club’s statutes, getting tied up in suspected criminal or legal violations, and allegedly trying to transform the club into a privately-owned enterprise known as SAD.
Allegations Raised Against Moretti
Still, this recommendation by the tribunal cannot make Moretti’s removal effective on its own. It now falls to the club’s Board of Directors to take the next move by organizing an extraordinary assembly.
That meeting needs to happen before any vote can take place. During the vote, 68 of the 90 delegates would have to support the decision to remove him, which equals a three-quarters majority.
Political Numbers Are Against the Decision
Looking at how the delegates are currently grouped, passing this vote will be a difficult task. Sixty out of the 90 delegates belong to Boedo en Acción, which is Moretti’s political group inside the club.
The rest are spread across three opposition groups: 14 come from Orden y Progreso, 11 are from Por Amor a San Lorenzo, and 5 represent Volver a San Lorenzo.
Every person voting will have their decision documented along with their name, which increases the pressure on each delegate. If the vote fails, it could work in Moretti’s favor and even make his political standing stronger, especially since he is currently away from his presidential role.
But if the vote succeeds, it would mean he gets removed permanently from San Lorenzo, will no longer be allowed to run for office again, and would lose his club membership completely.
