Concerns were raised when ESPN bought NFL Media, especially because the deal included NFL RedZone. Many people feared this could mark the end of Scott Hanson’s time with the program. That worry has now been cleared.
Hanson confirmed on Tuesday that he will return to host RedZone for the 2025 season, even with ESPN now part of the picture.

He described his mindset as positive about the new collaboration, and said he is looking forward to working alongside ESPN’s Adam Schefter once again.
RedZone to Continue With Hanson at the Helm
After news of ESPN’s large acquisition of NFL Media broke, a lot of people began to question what would become of RedZone and its host.
However, the terms of the deal made it clear that the NFL will maintain ownership and production duties for RedZone, while ESPN only handles how the content reaches television viewers. Since that structure leaves the NFL in charge of content decisions, Hanson’s presence remains secure for now.
Before this latest confirmation, there had been uncertainty surrounding Hanson’s return after the 2024 season ended. His contract had come to an end, and no updates had been given at the time. But it was later revealed that he and the NFL’s media group had come to an agreement, so he is set to keep hosting.
A Longtime Fixture Since 2009
Since RedZone made its debut in 2009, Hanson has served as the show’s only host. Viewers have grown familiar with his energetic style and well-known catchphrases. Over the years, he has built a reputation that connects with many people who follow the NFL closely every week.
While ESPN’s deal with the NFL is large and could possibly bring changes to other NFL Network presenters or staff in the future, Hanson’s position will remain unchanged based on current arrangements. So for now, RedZone viewers can expect to see the same voice and face when the next football season kicks off.
