On Tuesday, Trump called on Republicans to remain “smart and tough” as they prepare for potential Democratic efforts to slow the confirmation process for his nominees.
He emphasized the importance of staying vigilant and proactive in countering any delays. Through a post on Truth Social, Trump accused Senate Democrats of planning to obstruct the confirmation of his choices, describing their actions as improper.

He stated, “We just won a Historic Landslide and Mandate from the American People, but Senate Democrats are organizing to improperly stall and delay the confirmation process of many of our Great Nominees. They will try all sorts of tricks starting very soon. Republicans must not allow them to do that.”
Adding urgency to his message, Trump wrote, “We have a Country to run, and many big problems to solve, mostly created by Democrats. REPUBLICANS, BE SMART AND TOUGH!!!” He highlighted the critical nature of moving forward with his administration’s plans.
Hearings for Trump’s Cabinet selections are expected to commence next week, with each nominee requiring a majority vote for confirmation. Republicans hold a 53-47 Senate majority, reducing the likelihood of Democrats blocking appointments outright. However, opposition senators are anticipated to subject certain nominees to rigorous questioning and procedural delays.
While bipartisan support is anticipated for nominees like Sen. Marco Rubio for secretary of state and Rep. Elise Stefanik for ambassador to the United Nations, others may face challenges.
Concerns have been voiced by Democrats over Pete Hegseth for Defense secretary, Tulsi Gabbard as director of national intelligence, and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. for Health and Human Services. These appointments are expected to spark more debate during the confirmation process.
